Training Needs Assessment
Assessment of skills is done through a series of aptitude and interest inventories. The World-of-Work and several other assessment tools may be utilized by professional career counselors as a guide in determining an individual's current marketable skills when selecting a career or continuing education.

Basic Skills Updating
Assistance is available to individuals who need to improve in reading, writing, math and basic computer skills.

Classroom Training Assistance
Classroom training is available to individuals who need to enhance their technical skills required in the workplace. Workforce Development, Inc. coordinates the training between the participant and education provider and offers financial assistance. Classroom tutoring and counseling are available.

Support Services
Workforce Development, Inc. staff assist participants in overcoming personal or environmental barriers that may restrict their employment opportunities. This help may be in the form of transportation, child care or work required uniforms.

On-The-Job Training
On-The-Job Training (OJT) is an effective way for participants to acquire new work skills while receiving a wage. WDI shares the cost of OJT by reimbursing the business up to half of the starting wage during the training period.

Skills Assessment
The Minnesota Job Service will assess your work history and abilities in order to determine marketable job skills. All skills are reviewed, including application completion, resume writing and interviewing techniques.

Job Search Assistance

The Minnesota Job Service conducts Creative Job Search Workshops that give the customers the tools they need to make a successful transition back to work. During the workshop, Job Service will cover: writing a resume, identifying individual skills, interviewing for a job, finding jobs in demand and coping with unemployment. A resource room provides published job seeking information and computers to assist with job seeking activities.

Job Identification and Placement

With its extensive knowledge of local businesses, Job Service will make every effort to assist you in finding employment that meets your needs, skills and potential. Recent placement tools include MinnesotaWorks, an internet-based resume and job posting system.
